Jose W. Avitia, MD

Dr. Avitia joined the practice in August 2012. He was born and raised in rural New Mexico. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of New Mexico and then went on to earn his medical degree at the University of Illinois Medical School at Chicago. He returned to New Mexico to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of New Mexico. The unique challenges and needs of cancer patients motivated him in the completion of his fellowship in Oncology-Hematology at the University of Oklahoma. He is board eligible in Oncology/Hematology and board certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Avitia is pleased to return to his roots, where he enjoys working in our culturally rich and diverse state. He is an avid sports fan who maintains an active lifestyle through healthy eating, exercise and outdoor activities. Dr. Avitia loves spending quality time with his daughter, family and friends.
